The Accumold marketing team’s first-ever appearance at the FiO+LS exposition this coming week in Washington, D.C., takes on a double meaning for a crew with plenty of optics experience in conjunction with the best-known high-tech optical conferences and trade expos around the world.

FiO+LS is the jointly held OSA Frontiers in Optics and Laser Science APS/DLS that begins Sunday at the Washington Hilton and runs over the course four days. Frontiers in Optics is the annual meeting of 101-year-old The Optics Society (OSA).

It encompasses the breadth and scope of optical science and engineering with a goal of creating “an atmosphere that fosters the exchange of information between those working on fundamental research and those looking for solutions to engineering problems.”

Meanwhile, the American Physical Society’s (APS) Division of Laser Science (DLS) “provides an important forum for presenting the latest work on laser applications and development, spanning a broad range of topics in physics, biology, and chemistry.” The collaboration of the OSA and APS/DLS events is intended to create “thorough coverage of mutually interesting topics in a number of joint sessions.”

While Accumold already has a robust presence in the optics arena, Vice President of Marketing and Customer Strategy Aaron Johnson notes FiO+LS didn’t land on his team’s calendar as an afterthought. “Frontiers are always full of promise.

In business, there’s no greater frontier than emerging markets, so we feel tremendous excitement about our first FiO+LS event because that in itself represents a new frontier,” Johnson said. “We also see the much-greater potential and promise in the emerging markets that the technical conference and expo represent. That combination offers an exceptional gateway to new opportunities and mutually beneficial partnerships.”

Since its humble beginning in 1985, Accumold’s focus has been the creation of microscopic high-precision components in the medical, automotive, and telecommunications industries. Their work is critical in micro-electronics, cell phones, telecommunications, surgical tools, hearing aids, medical devices, antennas, connectors and more.
