Being at the epicenter of advanced manufacturing tends to get some attention and tour requests and this month it attracted the attention of the Vice President of the United States of America who decided to stop by, say hi and tour our facility.

On Tuesday, July 23rd, Vice President Pence came to Accumold’s advanced manufacturing facility to promote the bipartisan United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) which has received support from Republican and Democrats like former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack. While Accumold doesn’t take positions on policy, it was refreshing to host an event where both sides can agree on a common outcome.

Alongside the Vice President and The Governor of Iowa, Kim Reynolds, our CEO, Roger Hargens gave remarks talking about the strength of US Manufacturing, the potential for growth, and the incredible growth of Accumold.

“What a unique experience to meet the Vice President of the United States and shake his hand.” James Stewart on Accumold’s production team said as he reflected on Tuesday’s event. “To meet a leader we only see on TV, talking to media, I absolutely loved it. It was an experience I will always remember.”

Executive scheduler and assistant, Claudia VanDerSluis echoed Stewart’s sentiment. “It was a privilege to get to meet Vice President Pence, and work with the White House Staff.  They were an enjoyable group to work with.”

Why Accumold?

Accumold makes critical microscopic thermoplastic components and optics for today’s hottest tech companies. As electronics become smaller, lighter, and more complex, demand for what we do has skyrocketed, along with the attention that comes with it.

In addition, as our CEO explained on Bloomberg Radio last year, we are also leading the way in filling the skilled workforce gap with our own Accumold Scholars program, and in our sustainability initiatives, recycling %99.99 of all our plastic scrap.

Accumold is leading the manufacturing industry in skilled labor, advanced technology and sustainability which, in part, is responsible for attracting attention. But like our other VIP guests that take our tour, the Vice President also was not able to enter the secret state-of-the-art areas where we do our best work—only Accumold employees see those areas.
