PrintThis year Roger Hargens of Accumold was honored as the 2018 Person of Vision, during the 2018 Salute to Industry from Ankeny Economic Development Corporation. It’s no secret, a bit part of Accumold’s unique success has been the central Iowa community we decided to become an active part of.
We don’t simply exist in the city of Ankeny, right outside Iowa’s capital city, Des Moines we are active, especially in education with our local partner, Des Moines Area Community College, and also Waukee’s APEX program.
The focus of the 2018 Salute to Industry was on businesses and their leadership and at this October 2, Salute to Industry event, a total of five local growing businesses were honored alongside the local 100 Women Who Care organization.
Our own Roger Hargens of Accumold was honored alongside great companies including Right Dose A Guardian Pharmacy, Agbioscience, PowerPollen, Pratum, and CJM Financial. In addition, Keen Project Solutions was recognized for committing to a new investment in the Ankeny community and will be moving into their new headquarters into the area in November. Like us, they have plans to hire additional salaried positions with their move and have seen the Ankeny area as an advantage.
For the first time at, Ankeny Orbis students and teachers who worked with Ankeny Economic Development Corporation were also featured for their work on a video project to connect students to area businesses and answering the question, Why Ankeny? Accumold depends on hard-working students like these for our continued success.

A Micro History On Roger Hargens of Accumold
For those that don’t know Hargens, was one of our original investors and directors and has been here to shape every aspect of the company for nearly the beginning. Our company, starting in a garage in 1985, has now grown to a 130,000 square foot EF5 tornado fortified facility. After Hargens took over the CEO role in 2000 the company grew from 30 employees to a staff of over 350. Today we are a net exporter and ship all over the world every day from our facility that runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
